How we got here

The problem was
hiding in plain sight.

In 2021, our founders were doing what many GCC entrepreneurs do — trying to stitch together four or five different software tools to run a growing business. An international e-commerce platform here. A locally patched POS system there. A spreadsheet for inventory. Another tool for invoicing that needed a VAT plugin, which barely worked.

Every time they looked for a better solution, they found the same thing: powerful Western ERP systems built for American or European markets, with Arabic as a last-minute addition, no ZATCA support, no Mada payment gateway, no GOSI payroll integration. Tools designed for someone else's business reality.

We weren't looking to build a software company. We were looking for a solution. When we couldn't find one, we had no choice but to build it.

Commercely was incorporated in Riyadh in 2022 with a single conviction: the GCC market deserves software built specifically for it — not adapted from elsewhere, not translated from English, not retrofitted for compliance. Native. Purposeful. Exactly right for this market.

The idea takes shape

After months of struggling with fragmented tools, our founders begin drafting the architecture for a unified GCC-native business platform. Company incorporated in Riyadh.

First beta — E-Commerce module

50 beta customers go live with the first version of the Commercely e-commerce module. Real SAR payments, real Mada integration, real Arabic storefront.

First Launch
Q2 2023

POS & Warehouse go live

The second and third modules launch. For the first time, businesses can run their online store, physical register, and warehouse from a single platform. 1,200 businesses sign up in the first 60 days.

Q1 2024

ZATCA Phase 2 certification

Commercely becomes one of the first SME-focused platforms to achieve full ZATCA Phase 2 e-invoicing certification — natively, without third-party middleware.

Q3 2024

Commercely crosses 10,000 active business accounts across Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. A real GCC-wide platform.
